"Being successful doesn't mean you have to give up being who you really are." I was once told by one of my clients that she was not happy with the fact that she had no private life because of the pressures of being famous. "It's amazing" she said. "I spent most of my life trying to be famous and now that I have it I I realize it has its drawbacks. I have no private life" Isn't it true that most actors and actresses want to be famous when they are not and often want not to be when they are? There are some celebrities who thrive on the "fame" lifestyle and enjoy every minute of it and there are others who were not prepared for the invasion of privacy that inevitably must follow. I believe that you can have both. Living according to the real "who" you are instead of the "what" you are is what makes the difference. In essence you have not changed. The person you were before you were famous in fact even as a child, is exactly the same one as you are now. The thing that has changed is other peoples expectations of who you are or who you should be. To be famous you need to have a public persona and i am sure you love that part of it. But to be totally fulfilled as a human being you also need to have the confidence to be a private person too. Living in the fantasy of fame all the time is not healthy but how can you live in the reality of life when you are famous? Well for a start it is important for you to know yourself well and to like who you are. Getting in touch with your true values, getting your needs met (not just the physical ones, but the spiritual and emotional ones too), building strong boundaries and having a solid foundation is the start of being able to live your life to the full in both your personal and professional life. it is possible. How do I know it is possible? Because i know people who have managed to have it all. I have supported people as they develop their personal and private life despite being in the public eye all the time. E mail me frank@dealingwithfame.com and let's begin the process |
